The National Park Service lists eight national parks in Hawaii, five on the Big Island, one on Maui, 
one on Molokai and one of Oahu - each worthy of a visit. Residents and travelers explore Hawaiis national parks to marvel at the awesome natural wonders, visit ancient and recent Hawaiian settlements and pay homage to Americas past.
Here are the parks located on Hawaiis Big Island:
Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail, established in 2000. The essential to budget travel is to plan in front. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our minds. Preparation and expending our travel budget correctly is a consideration for most families. Also keeping in mind that while traveling, regardless of whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel bill!. In Hawaiian, Ala kaha kai, means "shoreline trail" and it covers 175 miles of the coast of Hawaiis Big Island. Currently, it is not a continuous trail but can be accessed at several broken segments, passing through public and private lands. It was established for the preservation, protection and interpretation of traditional Native Hawaiian culture and natural resources.
No fees - the park is free. You will be required to pay park entrance fees to access the portions of the trails that lie within the boundaries of National Parks that collect entrance fees (Hawaii Volcanoes National Park & Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park).
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916. The park was also designated as an International Biosphere Reserve in 1980 and a World Heritage Site in 1987. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution -- processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with unique ecosystems, and a distinct human culture.

tline of the Island of Hawaii lies the hot, rugged lava of Kaloko-Honokohau. ... Hawaiians who first came to the area felt a spiritual presence in every rock and tree, in the gentle waters of shallow bays and in the tradewinds that gently swept across the lava flow.
There are no fees. Admission is free!
Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park, originally established in 1955 as City of Refuge National Historical Park and renamed in 1978. This place provided refuge to Hawaiians who came here. Today, the park continues as a sanctuary for visitors seeking a peaceful place and as a safe haven for all of the native wildlife living here.
Entrance Fees: $5.00 per vehicle - 7 days, $3.00 per individual - 7 days, $25.00 Tri-park Annual Pass
Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site, in1962 the site was made a National Historic Landmark, and in 1966 listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Puukohola Heiau, is one of the largest heiau (sacred places of worship temple for ancient Hawaiians) in Hawaii. The carefully preserved massive stone temple is believed to be one of the last sacred structures built in the Hawaiian Islands before western influence.
Free Admission. (Non-educational guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more at $2.00 per person.)

It covers everything from the remnants of ancient civilizations to the boyhood homes of U.S. Presidents to the stirring sagas of hard-fought wars to the reverberations of one woman refusing to give up her seat on a bus.
