People living in Hawaii or visiting from afar dont expect to see celebrities out and about, doing normal activities. Celebrity-spotting is usually unplanned ... you're out andstumble upon a film location or you see them at special events. However, there are some that seek out celebritites because they know they are in Hawaii. In both cases, when you do spot them, its fun and exciting.
Some of my celebrity encounters from long, long ago include Tom Selleck filming a segment of Magnum P.I. in Chinatown, George C. Scott filming Islands in the Stream on Kauai (actually got an invite to the movie set and ate in the actors lunch tent with co-star David Hemmings), Joe Penny filming Jake and the Fat Man in Waikiki and Duane Chapman - Dog the Bounty Hunter in Waikiki.
Spotting celebrities at a mall is much harder to do especially when youre at the mall to shop or eat but, apparently, a few did spot super model and Project Runway host Heidi Klum with talented singer/hubby Seal and their kids. Celebrity columns say that Heidi, Seal and family, includin.jpg)

Its nice to know that Heidi, Seal and entourage were comfortable enough to brave potential autograph hounds and paparazzi and visit Windward Mall, located in Kaneohe, on Oahus windward side. Actually, kamaaina (locals) are known to be pretty laid-back when it comes to celebrities. We usually dont approach them for autographs or pictures when theyre relaxing (and not working). Windward Mall has undergone renovation over that last two years. Primarily serving the windward community, the mall has over one hundred twenty stores (national and local retailers and anchored by Macys and Sears) in the two-level enclosed mall. The selection also includes restaurant
s (Ruby Tuesday, IHOP, Maruki Tei, Subway, Macys Gazebo and more), movie theaters, service providers and a new play area for kids called "Hokulea Voyage of Discovery. According to Windward Mall, its Oahu's first indoor children's soft play area and is probably where Seal and the kids spent their time while Heidi went shopping.
The food court, which offered a selection of fast-food options is undergoing renovations that will double its size and is projected to be completed later this year. Artist rendering by Windward Mall.

Another mall worth visiting is Royal Hawaii Center. Since this complex is in Waikiki, maybecelebrity-spotting might be more commonplace?
