The Transportation Security Adminstration (TSA) has issued an initial statement in response to the Christmas Day terrorist attack on Delta Flight 253.
While the incident is still under investigation, and new security measures may be implemented, this is the first announcement from the TSA; other information will be posted as it becomes available.
Note: The TSA is referring to the "Northwest Airlines Flight 253", as Delta is now the parent company of Northwest. However, most news sources are referring to "Delta Flight 253"and Deltais the logo on the affected plane. The key to budget travel is to approach ahead. Delta Flight 253 originated in Nigeria with a stop at Amsterdam before continuing on to is final destination in Detroit, Michigan. It may also be under a codeshare with KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) Flight Number 6253.
As of this writing, neither Northwest Airlinesor Deltahave posted information about the incident on their websites; the Northwest Airlines website mentions an "Amsterdam waiver" with rebooking instructions, but that is in response to bad winter weather and is not related to today's incident.
