About the hotel:
The lodges restaurant and historic tavern dishes out healthy, hearty and gourmet food prepared by executive Chef Kate Chadwick. who, honor the lodges 1921 establishment, created a special set of $19.21 entrees, each of which is an updated version of a classic 1920s dish, including Kobe beef meatloaf, chicken pot pie, turkey Tetrazzini and braised pork loin.
The lodges classic all-wood tavern serves light fare and drinks in a convivial atmosphere. This year, it will serve commemorative cocktails harkening back to the 1920s, including The Bootlegger and The Roaring Twenties Old Fashioned. Throughout the summer, Evergreen Lodge offers a 90th anniversary old-time outdoor barbecue several nights a week, with options ranging from A&W pulled pork sandwiches and barbecued free-range chicken to homemade vegetarian chili and grilled eggplant burgers.
Evergreen Lodge acts as a base camp for Yosemite adventures, including trips to the parks less visited Hetch Hetchy and Tuolumne Meadows High Country areas. The lodge has the most comprehensive guided recreation program in the Yosemite area, giving guests a rare opportunity to experience Yosemites famous attractions as well as its hidden gems with a knowledgeable guide. Half-day and full-day trips are designed for all ability levels. Many offerings are seasonal to take advantage of the best timing for viewing waterfalls, wildflowers or fall foliage. - The Historic Rainbow Pools Bike, Hike and Swim is a trip back in time that begins with a gentle, downhill bike ride followed by an easy hike to the river canyon where two forks of the Tuolumne River converge. After a box lunch, its time to relax and swim below the waterfalls near the historic pools.
Evergreen Lodge offers accommodations in 90 cabins (including some built in the 1930s and modernized in 2006), 15 custom campsites and the private vacation rental John Muir House. All cabins are warmly furnished and heated with private bathrooms and spacious decks, and all campsites are kitted out with air mattresses, sleeping bags with liners, pillows, camp chairs and lanterns. The Muir house has three bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Guest lodge facilities include the restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, historic tavern, general store, recreation hall with board games, lounging areas and indoor/outdoor fireplace, massage cabana, game room and theater, kids play areas, sun deck and outdoor central plaza.
