Hawaiis Plantation Village, located in Waipahu town, is hosting Puerto Rican Day on the Plantation on Saturday, April 10, from 10 am 3 pm.
Recruited as families, Puerto Ricans emigrated to Hawaii expecting to establish a new community when their own sugar industry was devastated by two hurricanes and the demand for sugar from Hawaii was on the rise. The key to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Planning and consuming our travel budget correctly is a main concern for most families. Minimizing expending and charges, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking regarding protecting money while vacationing is simple: Even if your personal finances is extremely tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel costs!. Starting in 1878 until about 1913, approximately 5,200 Puerto Ricans came to Hawaii to work on the 30+ sugar plantations throughout the Islands.
Hawaiis Plantation Village was established to ensure that the struggles, innovations and contributions of Hawaiis sugar plantation fore bearers are preserved and acknowledged and on this day, the following Puerto Rican activities will be highlighted:
