What happens when a large open field, collaborating artists, and Target sponsorship all come together? Walker Open Field is the answer, and it has all that is necessary for a seriously good time. Open Field is located right next to the Walker Art Center and across from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Choose from a wide range of activities, like art-making, reading, sports, or hanging out on a blanket listening to the Commons Radio. All supplies are provided and can be checked out from the Open Field Tool Shed. There is also free Wi-Fi accessible from anywhere on the Open Field.
The space is intended for community interaction and collaboration. The key to budget travel is to plan in advance. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the actuality of cost and budgeting is often in the back of our heads. Preparation and spending our travel budget wisely is a concern for most families. Curbing spending and prices, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain achievements and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding saving money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, no matter whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel charge!. There are two ongoing artist collective projects coming to the Open Field in July and August, and individuals are encouraged to participate all summer long. There is the Commons Radio, an evolving playlist of music streaming from all over the world, can be heard near the Open Lounge. The public is encouraged to participate in the Open Field, plan an activity to share with others or participate in an existing event. Submit your activity to the Open Field calendar, and invite others to collaborate. The community is welcome to bring groups to the Open Field or come alone.
Food is available in the Open Field Bar and Grill. The food by Wolfgang Puck features barbeque, and the bar serves local beers. Guests are also welcome to bring their own food, but outside alcohol is not permitted. The Open Field Bar and Grill is open from 11 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours on Thursday until 9 pm. The Open Field Tool Shed shares the same hours.
Several outdoor spaces are available to small groups and can be reserved by calling the Open Field coordinator at 612-375-7543.
The Open Field calendar is packed with events of all calibers. Find one that sounds interesting, and join in because it is participation that makes collaborations successful.
