Three-and-a-half hours from Phoenix lies one of the seven natural wonders of the world: the Grand Canyon.

With its awe-inspiring views, turbulent Colorado River rapids and a host of hiking and other recreational activities, the Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular national parks in the country. The important to budget travel is to approach onward. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Considering and expending our travel budget correctly is a priority for most families. Lowering consuming and charges, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured accomplishment and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking regarding economizing money while touring is simple: Even if your personal funds is really limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!. Its cooler summer temperatures lure many desert dwellers out of our summer hiding places to join the legions of vacationers exploring this gorgeous place. (Those cooler temps are at the rim only, by the way - canyon floor temps can reach 120 degrees during the summer.)

While so many are scaling back their vacation plans, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says the Prez wants to help families enjoy memorable vacations this summer. The National Park Service is allowing free entry to national parks on three separate weekends during June, July and August!

All 147 Park Service sites that normally charge entry fees - including the Grand Canyon - will waive those charges from June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16. Fees are normally $10 per person (on foot, bike or motorcycle) or $20 per vehicle for seven days.

This offer does not include activity fees such as the backcountry fee or permit, river permits, Skywalk, concessions, and the like.

Taking public trans to save more dough? To the South Rim, Nava-Hopi Tours offers bus service from Flagstaff. Greyhound offers service from Phoenix to Flagstaff, then from Flagstaff and Williams to points northward. You can then take a shuttle, offered by Trans-Canyon Shuttle, seasonally between the North and South Rims.
