Inland Northwest Trials Association - Mokins Bay trials

The weather forecast finally calls for a nice weekend with temperatures warm enough to make it a pleasure to get out and do something outside. If you are looking for a nice destination ride from Spokane with something fun to do when you get there, consider riding out to Hayden, Idaho where the Inland Northwest Trials Association is holding round 1 of this years trials.

For those unfamiliar with motorcycle trials competitions, it is a sport that is all about amazing balance and control of the motorcycle. The riders compete on a course that goes through difficult natural obstacles. The riders have to negotiate the course without putting a foot down, or falling. Each time a rider does put a foot down or drop the bike, a point get assessed against him. "The important to budget travel is to approach ahead. The person with the lowest score at the end wins, regardless of time.

Seven classes of riders, from novice to champ will compete this Sunday, April 22, 2012. Riders will start at 10:00. Although there is a fee to compete, observers get in free. This is a great event for the whole family.

Directions: From I-90 take Hwy 95 north to Lancaster Rd. Turn east on Lancaster. It will turn into Hayden Lake Road and go about 12 miles. Turn up the hill at Camp Mivoden and follow the ribbons on the right.
