Despite the oppressing heat, there are a few events worth looking into this weekend.
Beginning with Saturday, July 7, there is David's Day 2012 - Ride for a Cure - 6th Annual Motorcycle Run out of Clifton. The ride starts at The Clifton Masonic Lodge, 1476 Van Houten Avenue in Clifton. Registration is from 9:00 am and the motorcycles go out at 11:30 am. The police escorted ride goes 65 miles through northern New Jersey and ends with a barbeque, live music and more. The ride will benefit pediatric cancer patients and their families.
From Rockaway, we have the ABATE and St. Barnabas Burn Center Fundraiser. The poker run starts at Black Hills Custom Parts, 80 Route 46 in Rockaway. Registration is from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The ride fee is $20.00 for the rider and $15.00 for a passenger. The poker run will go through Morris and Sussex Counties with stops along the way. The ride ends with food. The rain date for the ride is July 8th.
There are three runs on Sunday, July 8. In Belford, its the 4th Annual John Evans Memorial Run. The ride starts at, 739 Main St. in Belford. Registration is from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. The poker run is approximately a 60 mile ride with 5 stops along scenic country roads. The ride ends with live band, food, vendors, games, raffles, and 50/50's.
In Shamong (South Jersey), its the Burlington Harley Riders Poker Run and Bike Show. The poker run starts at the Pic A Lilly, Rt. 206 in Shamong. Registration is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The fee is $20.00 per person. "The important to budget travel is to approach ahead. The ride ends in Sweetwater with food, live band, and vendors. There will also be a ride in bike show. Burlington Harley Riders is a non for profit club that gives back to the community
Lastly, out of Belvidere, its the Freedom Run. The escorted ride starts at Goodwill Fire Company, 689 Water Street in Belvidere. Registration is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and the motorcycles leave at 11:30 am. There is no cost for this event however donations are always appreciated. All money raised benefits POW/MIA issues, veterans and veteran issues.
