As I get back into the swing of traveling and writing, I look at the competition and wonder if I am way out of my league here. Perhaps my articles will inspire or help someone who may be experienceing a more "simple" state of mind at this time in their life. Being a single mom of a teenager anda toddler, there are a lot of areas to consider when traveling. So, my approach is to ease back into my travels "slowly. Here are some things to think about.
1) Cost
2) Convenience
3) Distance
4) Entertainment
For a weekend getaway, I recommend the San Luis Resort and Spa on Galveston island. If you have been to Galveston, you know there are not a lot of choices for decent hotels. The key to budget travel is to plan onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Arranging and expending our travel budget properly is a concern for most families. Minimizing spending and fees, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to confirmed achievement and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind saving money while vacationing is simple: Even if your personal finances is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a funds or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!. The San Luis is located right next door to the Holiday Inn and the Hilton. Residents of each hotel may use the amenities of the San Luis. Those amenities include a kids club, spa, swim up bar, resort style pool and fitness center. I did not go inside the Hilton but the rooms are less expensive than the San Luis with all the perks. Overall, I did not feel that the rooms were worth the money I paid but the entertainment offered when you are traveling with two teenagers and a toddler, made me feel better. All rooms are ocean front with private balconies.
The location of the San Luis was the biggest perk. IHop and the Rainforest Cafe are right across the street. There are many other restaurants and shops within walking distance, and cross walk to the beach is right in front of the hotel. This hotel is most certain the place to be during Spring Break for families and singles.
Service at the hotel was definitely what you would expect from a an upscale resort from the waiters and waitresses ready to serve you at the pool, to the fresh baked cookies on my bed. The pool has a nice swim up bar for adults who find time to themselves. What the hotel lacked in some areas, it made up for in service. My favorite part was the fact that I did not need to get in my car and drive anywhere.
