While there's always something going on in Breckenridge, Colo., July 4th weekend is no different. This year, Rusted Root will perform a free concert on July 4th as part of a weekend long holiday celebration. The free show takes place at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center. Other July 4th events include a parade, a chalk art contest, and of course fireworks.
Rusted Root free concert: Formed in Pittsburgh by singer/guitarist Glabicki in the early 90s, Rusted Root serves up a worldly style that quickly charmed fans of roots music and world rock; the band has sold more than three million albums worldwide. July 4, 2:00 p.m. at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center.
Independence Day parade: Start the day with a 10k trail run on Breckenridges spectacular in-town trail system. Later, the Firecracker 50 mountain bike race part of the debut USA Cycling Pro Ultra Endurance Tour kicks off the Main Street parade with 700+ cyclists leading out the floats, bag pipers, kids bike brigade and more. July 4, parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street
Chalk Art Contest and Arts District Grand Celebration: In addition to the weekend-long July Art Festival, the Breckenridge Arts District opens their doors Saturday, July 2 for kids make-and-take art projects, music, a sidewalk chalk art competition with cash prizes and more. Fireworks and free concert with the National Repertory Orchestra: After the kids water fight and downtown activities, close out the day with a patriotic concert by the National Repertory Orchestra. Lawn seating is free and reserved indoor tickets are available beginning June 30. Fireworks follow the concert. July 4, concert begins 8:30 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center
