Get your kicks on Indiana 46, Part III: Bloomington

After departing from Nashville and Brown County, we drove a little farther west down a particularly winding section of Indiana 46 to Bloomington.

As home to the main campus of Indiana University, Bloomington is an odd marriage of small town values and progressive, "college town" sensibilities.

In a visit to Bloomington you can see an old movie on the big screen at the equally historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater, work on your flexibility at the Lynda Mitchell Yoga Studio, watch IU basketball at Assembly Hall, meditate at the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center and party with the college students at The Bluebird Nightclub and bed down at The Scholars Inn Bed and Breakfast.

On our trip to Bloomington we made a quick stop for dinner at the Village Deli, which was an ideal spot for my vegetarian companion.

But whether you have a taste for a veggie burger at Village Deli, Pad Thai at Esan Thai Restaurant, or wine straight from the vineyards at Oliver Winery, you'll be sure to have plenty of culinary choices from independent proprietors in Bloomington.
