Niwot is a small community just north of Boulder, about a 45 minute drive from downtown Denver. Its charming Old Town already makes for an ideal getaway. Now add to that a free, weekly summer concert series.
Rhythm on the Rails will take place at Whistle Stop Park, next to the train tracks, every Thursday evening, June 10 through September 9, 2010.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. There will be booths with food vendors, artisans, childrens activities, and a beer, wine and margarita garden. You can pack your own picnic, bring a blanket, and settle on the hay bales or the grass for the evening.
Concerts begin at 6:45 p.m. and last until approximately 8:45 p.m. The featured musical acts come from all over the Front Range and other parts of the United States. Opening night, June 10, kicks off with Denvers own The Informants, who have twice been voted Best Blues Band by Westwords readers.
Bonepony, who hail from Nashville, TN, will tear up the rails on June 24 with their signature stomp rock which mixes the arena sound with the fervor of a traveling tent revival.
Viewers of the NBC show, The Sing Off will remember the performance by Boulders all-vocal rock band, Face. Featuring five singers and one beat-boxer, they will perform on August 19.
Mobile, Alabamas Ugli Stick performs a unique blend of musical genres which they call a beautiful accident. See them play on September 2.
