Its bound to happen. At some point or another, you end up spending more on that long-awaited vacation than you planned.

Its a common tactic by the travel industry to market new and upcoming destinations as cheap simply because they are new and upcoming and as such we tend to believe them. It follows that these places would be cheaper than say, Switzerland, but in itself cheap is relative to the size of your wallet.
It is also relative to your starting location. A vacation may be cheap in Thailand once you get there, but if youre starting from Montana and traveling with a family of 4, a hop and a skip over to Asia may cost more in time and money than would be considered cheap.
