First, to identify these businesses on Twitter, you'll need to visit the online directory www.twibs.com, and type "travel" in the search bar.
You'll then be given their usernames. Have a text pad open, copy and paste the one you're interested in.
After that, you'll need to sign up for a Twitter account, if you haven't already.
Step one: Follow airlines like Jet Blue and Southwest to receive their latest "tweets". You'll get FIRST NOTICE of any promotions and travel packages.
Recently, Jet Blue posted one-way tickets to the Bahamas from New York for $9 and Seattle-Boston for $39.
Step Two: Follow Hotels
Some offer special "Twitter-only" specials. Anything from 15% off to complimentary cocktails for correctly answering trivia questions come up from time to time.
Step Three: Follow Travel Consolidators and Individuals
People like CouponLadie, couponsaver, and ShareInfoOnline along with Travelocity and Expedia are constantly on the look-out for timely specials.
Step Four: Get What You Want
You can utilize Twitter's own search engine by going to search.twitter.com. Type in where you want to go and how you would like travel. The essential to budget travel is to plan onward.
