Ski deal: Northstar-at-Tahoe offering two free lift tickets each day you stay

It's ski season again and resorts are rolling out the ski deals. Northstar-at-Tahoe, scheduled to open Friday, November 19, is offering two free lift tickets for each day you stay at a Northstar lodging studio.

Recently sold to Vail Resorts, owner of Heavenly at South Lake Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe has 3,000 skiable acres with 2,280 feet of vertical drop. The village features gondola access, a 9,000 foot skating rink, restaurants, and shops. Scheduled recurring events include TGI Thursdays, providing food and drink specials every Thursday, and live music from December 18 to December 24 from 2:00PM - 5:00PM.

Two free lift tickets, which can be used Mondays through Fridays, are provided for each day stayed from Sundays through Thursdays. The offer is good from opening day to December 23 and April 3 through closing. Blackout dates are: December 24 - January 1, 2011 and February 18 - 23, 2011.

If someone isn't much of a skier, the free lift ticket can be exchanged for a cross-country trail pass or a $25 resort card.

Stays start at $115 per person per night for the Aspen Grove Studio Condo, located 1/4 mile from the village. A fully equipped kitchen cuts costs while a gas fireplace keeps things cozy. Groups and families can stay in one through three bedrooms for an additional cost. Take note of each property's resort fee (the resort fee for Aspen Grove is $5 per night).

Outside of the resort, Truckee is an old railroad town with numerous restaurants, shops, and art galleries on Donner Rd. For a romantic night out, go to Pianeta Ristorante, which cooks up authentic Italian meals for patrons who become regulars. Try the fresh homemade pasta dishes.

Northstar-at-Tahoe is about a three and half to four hour drive from San Francisco.
