Hawaii Storm Watch: Hilda (2)

As of 5 am this morning, tropical storm Hilda is about 540 miles southeast of Hilo and moving westward at 9 mph with maximum winds of 60 mph.

Not much development is expected for the next 48 hours. Local weather forecasters say that it will likely develop into a hurricane in the next day or so but will travel well past Hawaii.

A Tropical Preparedness Tip from CPHC

If you evacuate during an emergency, turn off the utilities in your home. Turn off all water faucets, make sure electricity is turned off at the main switch, and turn off gas at the main valve.
