Travelers can help fight breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by supporting businesses that are contributing resources toward breast cancer research.
Now through October 31, 2010, Delta is donating 100 miles to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) for every Delta iPhone app downloaded and every app check-in. Delta will donate up to a million miles to BCRF. Delta will also donate proceeds from their onboard "pink" sales and 10% of the Delta Sky Club membership fee when you join, while giving you a month's free membership, to BCRF during October.
American Airlines is doing its part by rewarding AAdvantage members double miles for each dollar donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with a minimum $25 donation, until the end of the year. Give someone the gift of travel and life by purchasing an American Airlines Komen Gift Card. American Airlines will donate $5 to the foundation for every $50 purchased. American Airlines is also making it easier for Race participants to travel by offering a 10% discount off any published fare.
Norwegian Cruise Line's signature dance party, White Hot Party, will be turning pink for October. Instead of White Hot Party t-shirts, Norwegian will be selling Pink Hot Party t-shirts in their on-board gift shops throughout October for $18 each. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.
Stay at a participating Hard Rock Hotel during Pinktober where certain guestrooms will be decked out in pink. 25% of the room rate will go to support breast cancer research. Also, proceeds from concerts at Hard Rock Cafes across the country will be donated to fight breast cancer. In San Francisco, Finding Stella will be playing at the Hard Rock Cafe Friday, October 29. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Women's Cancer Resource Center.
Beyond October, keep in mind that the Avon Walk San Francisco will take place the weekend of July 9 - July 10, 2011. If you would like to get involved with the breast cancer fight in the meantime, contact these organizations located in the San Francisco Bay Area: The Breast Cancer Fund, Women's Cancer Resource Center, Zero Breast Cancer, and Breast Cancer Connections.
