Arts-related Maplewood businesses celebrate first event as Maplewood Arts District

More than 20 Maplewood businesses calling themselves the Maplewood Arts District and representing actors, designers, musicians, photographers, sculptors and visual artists, launched their inaugural event on Friday night.

During the evening there were a wealth of activities including cabaret acts, performing arts, music and visual art. Art galleries and photography studios were open, and entertainment including R&B artistEmory Joseph, and songwriter Bonnie Raitt were featured as part of the evenings activities.

Many of the events were free, and any cover charges were minimal. Participating businesses in this first event for the group included: Avante, Foundation Grounds, Stone Spiral, Flora Diva Design Gallery, Hoffman LaChance, S.
