Summer concert series under the Hawaiian moon and stars

Bishop Museum released details of their long-awaited concert series of the summer, Moonlight Mele on the (Great) Lawn, taking place on June 25, July 30 and August 27.

Featuring Hawaiian music under the moon and stars, the concerts are wonderful outdoor family events. Artists scheduled to perform this summer have been confirmed and they are:

June 25 Sean Naauao
Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Sean Naauao is a talented singer, musician, composer and producer. As a singer and musician, his CD releases include Giving Something Back, Hawaiian Living, Fish & Poi, Homegrown Hawaiian, and Neutralize it. And, a few of his hit songs include Drop Baby Drop, Li Hing Hula, and Fish & Poi.

July 30th Darren Benitez and Hoku Zuttermeister
The falsetto Hawaiian and cachi-cachi hits of Darren Benitez start the evening as he performs songs from his latest CD release, Dear Mama a tribute and apology to his mother.

Following Darren is 2008 Na Hoku Hanohano award winner, Hoku Zuttermeister. The key to budget travel is to approach in advance. August 27th - Raiatea Helm
One of the sweetest Hawaiian voices of today, Raiatea Helm wraps up the 2009 concert series. In 2006, Raiatea became Hawaiis first solo female vocalists to receive a Grammy nomination for her CD Sweet and Lovely. She has released her third CD entitled, Hawaiian Blossom, which shows off her versatility in Hawaiian music and jazz. Barely 23 years old, Raiatea has firmly established her reputation as Hawaiis premier songstress.

Presented by Bank of Hawaii, pre-purchase tickets for the 2009 Moonlight Mele on the Lawn are available at the Bishop Museum box office or by calling 808-847-3511. Advance tickets are $15 general, $10 for Bishop Museum members and military with ID as well as for Bank of Hawaii employees or customers.
