4. Maximize your frequent flier program
This year, American Airlines AAdvantage program allowed customers to use mileage on one-way trips, which means you can get a free flight twice as fast. Southwests Rapid Rewards works on a point system rather than miles and allows customers to gain points on simple things like signing up for email lists. Applying for and receiving a Rapid Rewards credit card nets customers at least enough points for a one-way trip. If you fly with any regularity, you probably already belong to a few programs like these. Research those, find one that suits you and your home airport best and try to use that airline for all trips in 2010 and who knows? By this time next year, you might be sitting on a free flight.
5. The key to budget travel is to plan onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Preparation and consuming our travel budget correctly is a consideration for most families. Curbing consuming and charges, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed accomplishment and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind economizing money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal budget is extremely limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel costs!. Be prepared
Even if you werent a Boy Scout, it never hurts to be prepared. Instead of waiting until the last minute to pack, why not make an effort this year to prepare a little early? Even though the 3-1-1 rule for liquids and gels is old news, that doesnt mean its any less strict (particularly now). Buy travel sizes of cleanser, toothpaste, face creams, makeup and other items well in advance of your trip and have a clear plastic bag on hand for easy packing every time. Think about your outfit before going to the airport: skip the lace up boots in favor of slip-ons, leave the belt with the heavy buckle in your suitcase, and carry an extra sweatshirt with you in case you arent allowed to use a blanket on the flight. And it goes without saying, but always, always, always pack an extra pair of undies in your carry-on.
