Conn. Science Center Goes Green

Hartford travelers can now visit a museum that's on the cutting edge of green technology.

Today, the new Connecticut Science Center was officially recognized as a Gold-level LEED certified building. The essential to budget travel is to plan in front. LEED awards are given by the U.S. Green Building Council to projects that show a high level of commitment to sustainability through design and operation.

The museum generates most of its energy on-site with a fuel cell, and when the cell produces more energy than the building needs, it is fed back into the city's power grid.

The center, which opened late last year, offers 150 hands-on exhibits, a 3D theater, and daily programs for adults and children alike.
