Going green: resources for ecotourism and environmentally-friendly travel

As travelers become more and more interested in sustainable travel options, more and more travel-industry companies are working to incorporate more green practices in an effort to attract environmentally-oriented customers.

As green tourism becomes more and more marketable, more and more hotels and tourism-related companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Some have dubious motives, and an even more questionable record of sustainable practices. Bill Wood of AAA warns travelers to be aware of "greenwashing" which is essentially spinning information to appear more environmentally-friendly.

While green standards differ from association to association, new online resources help travelers seek out eco-friendly experiences and make sense of all the lingo.
