With Halloween rapidly approaching there are plenty of ghosts waiting to be chased down in haunted National Park sites across the east. Below is a summary of some of the best places to experience the paranormal this October.

Pinelands National Reserve, New Jersey- There have been thousands of reported sightings of the Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens, originating as far back as the 1700s. This winged kangaroo-like creature reportedly prowls dark corners of the swampy forest spooking people with its ugliness. Learn more about the beast and possibly even encounter it yourself on a NJ Conservation Association-sponsored Jersey Devil hike at Leeds Point in Galloway. "The important to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our minds. Planning and spending our travel budget wisely is a concern for most families. Minimizing spending and prices, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured achievements and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding saving money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal funds is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, no matter whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel bill!..". Gettysburg National Battlefield, Pennsylvania- Phantom solider sightings are common in the Devils Den area of this famed Civil War battlefield. There have also been many accounts of visitors experiencing mysterious camera malfunctions when trying to photograph the site. Creeped but intrigued? Check out a "Ghosts of Gettysburg" candlelight walking tour! Visit http://www.ghostsofgettysburg.com/ for more info.

Blue Ridge National Parkway, North Carolina- There are many hair-raising stories centered around the winding Blue Ridge Parkway but the most notorious activity is that of the infamous Brown Mountain Lights. Over the ridge of Brown Mountain near Morganton, mysterious moving flashes can be seen from the road regularly. Thousands have claimed to witness the phenomenon, resulting in several inconclusive government investigations into this eerie occurrence.

Lowell National Historical Park, Massachusetts- Visitors have reported seeing ghosts of 19th century mill girls in the Boot Cotton Mill Museum. Will you be spooked amongst the looms? The park service offers daily tours of the museum, exploring textile industry life in the heart of the industrial revolution.

Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky- Mammoth Cave is one of the most active spots for paranormal activity in the country. There have been many documented ghoulish occurrences with spine-chilling testaments made by a wide array of tourists, rangers and even scientists! Famed 19th century cave guide and slave Stephen Bishop is the most frequently sighted apparitionin in the massive cave system. Another regular spirit is Floyd Collins, the subject of a sensational media frenzy back in 1925 when he spent 18 days trapped in the cave just out of the reach of rescuers before perishing.

Antietam National Battlefield, Maryland- On the bloodiest day in American history, 23,000 soldiers lost their lives during this legendary civil war battle. Prominent landmarks such as Dunkers Church and Burnside Bridge are said to be haunted by the spirits of some of those who perished.
