If you're on the internet much, or a news junkie of sorts, you've likely heard by now the craze sweeping the internet with Google's new Bacon Number tool that they rolled out today to tell you how many degrees of separation someone is from Kevin Bacon. It's based on the American Playwright, John Guare's, Six Degrees of Separation where any two people in the world are no more than six degrees, links or acquaintances away from another person. In Google's case, the tool will tell you how many degrees of separation a person is from Kevin Bacon. Why Kevin Bacon, you might ask? The thought process is that Bacon has been in so many movies that it would be nearly impossible to find a famous person more than six degrees of separation from him. If you're inclined to test it, here's how it's done. Go to the Google home page and in the search field type in the name of a famous person followed by "bacon number". I put it to the test using some famous actors who ride.

Try as I might, I couldn't find any famous actor who rides, with more than three degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. The internet provides endless opportunities for news, views, entertainment and fortunately, or unfortunately (however you look at it), endless time consuming and time wasting opportunities like Farmville, Facebook, Twitter and now, the Google Bacon tool. Maybe you can find someone with four degrees of separation or more. Have fun!
