The Bossier City Chapter of the Harley Owner's Group lost a long time member this week. "The important to budget travel is to approach in advance. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our heads. Arranging and consuming our travel budget carefully is a main concern for most families. Reducing consuming and prices, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning behind saving money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also recalling that while traveling, whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!..". Garland Scott Whitis "Scotty" passed away on April 13, 2013. Scotty was a life-long resident of Shreveport and a charter member of the Shreveport H.O.G. and the Historian for the Shreveport and Bossier City chapters. He proudly served his country and was a Vietnam Marine Corps Veteran. Scotty owned Whitis Auto Body shop on Greenwood in Shreveport. His wealth of knowledge and historical facts as well as the many contributions and volunteer hours he made to the H.O.G. chapters will certainly be missed. He was a kind man who never met a stranger and in my experience would spend hours reminiscing about rides and events. He always stepped up to the plate to offer his assistance where needed. Scotty made many friends and impacted the H.O.G. chapters in a positive manner. He will be sorely missed.

Memorial services for Scotty will be held at 4:00 p.m. today, April 20, 2013 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel with the U.S. Marine Corps providing military honors. Officiating will be Father John Himes. Harold Jones will deliver the eulogy. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to N.W. LA War Veterans Home; 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, Bossier City, LA 71112 or Run with the Nuns, 1 St. Mary Place, Shreveport, LA 71101.
