3 Dallas restaurants for foodies on a budget

Attention all you foodies - Dallas has enough culinary delights to keep you full for a month.

I've narrowed the list down to four budget-friendly places you won't want to miss while you're in town. Already a North Texan? Be sure to check these out.

Cosmic Cafe
Satisfy your spiritual side with this vegetarian haven. The ornate building is reason enough to visit. You won't believe this place has been hiding in plain sight all this time. You don't have to be a meat-hater to enjoy the food.
The chai is complimentary for diners and the hummus is a must-have. I recommend the Buddha's Delight for beginners. You'll get a taste of several items - all spicy, flavorful and great. Desserts vary - the strawberry cake is moist and not too sweet. I've never had any quite like it.
If you are dining with picky eaters or people with lots of veggie-related food allergies, this might not be the place to go. Send them up to the meditation room to chill while you enjoy your meal.
Parking is scarce and extremely tight, so you may have to park across the street. Adjacent parking is for other retailers and they will literally run outside yelling if you try to park in their spaces.
Campisi's Egyptian Restaurant
This historic eatery is deceptively large. If you're going during peak dinner hours, you should expect a line. But the line moves fast and the food is worth the wait. The pizza is famous for a reason, so be sure to try it.
Individual juke boxes line booths at the Mockingbird location and photographs line the walls. The restaurant, started in 1946 by a founder said to have connections with organized crime, is popular with locals and SMU students. Jack Ruby made a stop at the original location the night before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Jake's
On a warm Texas day, there's nothing better than sitting on the deck with a beer and a burger, right? If you agree, you'll love Jake's in Addison.
The food is cheap (you can get a burger, fries and a drink for under $10) and the service is friendly. The patio is big, so you will almost always get seating without a wait. Live bands sometimes perform on the deck.
