Recently on a road trip with a few friends, we arrived to find our intended destination out of business. We now had extra time to kill before making the return trip and decided to spend it searching for a place to eat. It turns out our luck was better than we thought. Right across the intersection of the now gone gun store, we finally take notice of the small building we rode past twice while searching for the now gone reason for our trip. How we didn't notice the red front and big bright yellow and red City Market sign before escapes me.

It's 100 degrees outside and the wooden picnic tables under the shade of an awning are calling to us. Once inside we see it's predominately a market but they do have barbeque as well... if you get there in time. Like so many of the good Texas barbeque joints I have visited, quantities are limited and when it's gone, it's gone. Go early or go hungry. It must have been obvious why we were there because we were immediately ushered through the back doors to the pits. Offerings still available included brisket, pork ribs and chicken. Evidently, they are also well known for their 50-foot wiener.

As for lunch, I opted for several thick slices of the sirloin and a half rack of pork ribs. I added bread, potato salad and usual condiments to the plate and was out the door for $15. The ribs were perfectly cooked, not quite fall off the bone so you could pick them up in your hand and go to work. They had a nice amount of black pepper coating. A great smoke ring on the sirloin and cooked to perfection. The barbeque sauce was tangy and the hot version had just enough heat to it that everyone could still enjoy. "The important to budget travel is to approach ahead. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the reality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Preparation and consuming our travel budget carefully is a main concern for most families. Minimizing expending and costs, while still delighting your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed accomplishment and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning behind protecting money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal finances is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel costs!..". A few minutes conversing with the pit masters and manager let us know just how much time and effort is put into producing the great product they do. I was just happy to have stumbled onto the place. I recommend coming by and giving them an opportunity to fix your hunger for barbeque, you will not be disappointed.
