Another perspective on what is important when we travel

Last week, I wrote an article asking "What is budget travel?" One of the conclusions I came to was that the encounters you have may be more memorable than the sights you see. The important to budget travel is to prepare in front. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the reality of expense and budgeting is often in the back of our thoughts. Considering and spending our travel budget wisely is a concern for most families. Reducing consuming and costs, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievement and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking regarding protecting money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal funds is incredibly limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel bill!. These type of experiences can't be measured in dollars (Read the article here - What is budget travel?). In writing about travel with kids, one of the positives is that travel becomes as much about the people you meet rather than the things you see.

Recently, I came across a blog entry of a tour guide and guidebook writer for the European travel guru Rick Steves. While this is normally a blog where Rick shares his insights and experiences, Cameron Hewitt had the opportunity to share about his travels in Norway, Switzerland, and Poland.

As someone who travels for a living and actually lives in Europe, I thought it would be interesting to share his perspective as he travels through Poland doing research. Here is the last paragraph of his entry:

"When traveling, we focus so much on the museums, the cuisine, and the scenery. But it's often these strange, funny, serendipitous little interactions that we remember most fondly."
