Located just off of Franklin Street north of the Chicago River, the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza is nestled atop the Chicago Apparel Center. The hotel has long boasted about the panoramic views of Chicago from its unique position, beginning on the 14th floor of the building.

Renovations include installing every guest room with a 32-inch LCD flat screen TV, energy efficient shower heads, complimentary high-speed internet service and 200-thread bed linens. The hotels proximity to the Merchandise Mart makes it an obvious choice for meetings, workshops and conferences, and these spaces were not overlooked in the redesign. The 25,000-square-feet of meeting and banquet rooms each have high-speed internet access, on-site technicians, audio-visual equipment, banquet services and food provided by Chef Len Trevino.

The Mart Plaza has 521 guest rooms, making it the 13th largest hotel in Chicago (and the only one that starts on the 14th floor!). Theres also a large indoor swimming pool when you need some relaxation. For dining and drinking, the hotel offers the Cityscape Bar, redesigned and launched last year and located in the hotel lobby, as well as the new Italiasia, an Italian/Asian fusion restaurant which opened in May.
If youre driving, the hotel offers a $31 self-park option for overnight with in and out privileges (a fantastic deal for downtown Chicago). If you can leave the car at home, the nearest El stop is the Brown (or Purple) Line Merchandise Mart stop, located on the east side of the Merch Mart.
Until Sept. 8, 2009, the hotel offers the Cool Summer Package with rates starting at $137 a night, and including a $20 food and beverage credit at Italiasia and either two CTA fun passes or free self-parking each day of your stay. Note that you must book at least three days in advance.
