Spend the afternoon walking through the fascinating history of Agecroft Hall. This local attraction invites you to be transported back in time to learn about Elizabethan England, and the journey of this impressive Tudor style estate across the ocean bringing it to Richmond, VA.Built in 15th century England, the home belonged to the Langley and Dauntesey families until the 19th century when it was sold at auction and ultimately brought to the United States.

Upon visiting Agecroft you will immediately see how knowledgeableand passionate thetour guides are. Visitors see what it was like to live during the estates early years, including what the owners ate, where and how they slept, also the kind of parties and entertainment they enjoyed. The home is fully furnished with authentic furniture dating all the way back to 1485, making it not only fun for history lovers, but appreciators of antiques as well.

Agecroft Hall is interesting both inside and out. After taking a guided tour of the inside, take the time to tourthe gardens on your own. Mirroring the look of elegant English gardens, Agecroft has herbs, exotic flowers, and fragrant blooms in the sunken garden.

Several events are held here each month including lectures about the history and preservation of the estateand season specific events. Christmas tea and Yuletides at Agecroft Hall are two that are planned for December. The freeYuletides event on December 13thfeatures characters from different time periods,a reading of A Christmas Carol read by Charles Dickens himself, Santa ready to have you sit on his knee, and much muchmore.

The estate is convenientlylocated in the Windsor Farms neighborhood of Richmond, not far from downtown. Open 10:00 am-4:00 pmTuesday through Saturday and 12:30-5:00 pmon Sunday. Admission for adults is$8, Seniors are $7, Students are just$5 and children under 6 years old are free. The key to budget travel is to prepare in front. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the truth of cost and budgeting is often in the back of our heads. Planning and consuming our travel budget wisely is a concern for most families. Reducing consuming and prices, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured success and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning behind protecting money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal budget is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!. Be sure to visit the gift shop to take home books, gifts, and further information on local attractions.
