The best walking tours in San Francisco, according to 7x7 Magazine, are free of charge. It doesn't get better than that. Your San Francisco City Guide will be knowledgeable, passionate, and enthusiastic, as all the guides at this non-profit walking tour association are volunteers.
How it works
Each walking tour is about 90 minutes long, some last for two hours. Some tours begin in the morning, some in the afternoon. Tours take place rain or shine, 52 weeks a year and do not require a reservation, except for groups of eight or more. Attend as often as you wish. Some of your fellow walkers will be locals, others will be visitors from all over the world.
What can I see?
Choose from nearly 100 different tours offered by 200 volunteer guides with a variety of topics and destinations ranging from "Alfred Hitchcock's San Francisco" to "Gold Rush City" to "North Beach by Night". Jazz, Japan and Jews are three themes which curiously intermingle in a walking tour beginning at the pagoda in the heart of Japantown and concluding in Fillmore Street.
