The section of Richmond called Church Hill isa friendly and historic place to spend time. As one of the largest 19th-century neighborhoodsin the country you'll find plenty of places hereto walk, eat, learn, and simply discover some of the city's spirit.
The area is known for several things, perhaps one of the most important being St. John's Churchwhich was the first church in Richmond, and the site of Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty, or Give me Death" speech in 1775. It's grounds are also home to Richmond's first public cemetery, and a brick schoolhouse that was built in 1835. To learn everything you can, be sure to take one of their guided tours that are offered every day of the week for only $6 (children under 7 are always free).
Although a chilly experience in these winter months, Church Hill is home to two wonderful parks. Chimborazo Parkhas theChimborazo Medical Museum, a great view of the city, and evena place for dogs to run free. Libby Park, located near 19th street, is where you can view the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors monument, not to mention an amazing view of the city and the James River. Pack a lunch and sit at one of Libby Park's picnic tables to take in the view.
If you are driving through the neighborhood in the morning, stop by Captain Buzzy's Beanery for a great cup of coffee, and an egg and cheese sandwich (a personal favorite). Captain Buzzy's is locatedat 2623 E Broad Street, andhas a great staff and a cozy atmosphere for sipping your coffee. Another meal option is The Hill Caf. Found at 2800 Broad Street this small brick walled restaurant and bar has a large menu filled with comfort food and nightly specials. The Hill Caf is a great place for brunch, lunch, or dinner, as well as to gather with locals at night and have a beer from their wide selection.
Church Hill also offers other nearby restaurants, galleries, and even places to stay like the William Caitlin House, and Mr. Patrick Henry's Inn. The essential to budget travel is to approach onward. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our minds. Arranging and expending our travel budget properly is a concern for most families. Reducing consuming and expenses, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain accomplishment and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The reasoning regarding saving money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly tight, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, no matter whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!. While visiting the River City put this neighborhood on your list.
