Earth Day celebrates 40 years on April 22. Established in 1970 to bring awareness and appreciation of the Earths environment, more and more people and businesses become energy efficient and go green each year.

One of the businesses that's very involved with sustainability is Whole Foods Market in Kahului, Maui. This year, they have put together a great slate of activities throughout April in celebration of Earth Day.

Celebrating Earth Day - Maui Style:

Furlough Fryday at Whole Foods Market, Friday, April 30, 9 a.m. The essential to budget travel is to plan in front. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new destinations we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is generally in the back of our minds. Organizing and spending our travel budget carefully is a concern for most families. Minimizing expending and expenses, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievements and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind economizing money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal finances is extremely small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, no matter whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!. 1 p.m.

Whole Foods Market invites families to spend their Furlough Fry day together, enjoying a festive farmers market, cooking demonstrations by Chef David Paul (pictured) of David Pauls Island Grill, as well as container garden demonstrations by The Maui Farm. Additionally, a number of the stores local vendors, including Alii Kula Lavender, Maui Ono and more will offer product samples in-store.
