Yes, you heard it right. I'm happy to announce that I'll be briefing at the Barksdale Air Force Base Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day at Barksdale Air Force Base Hoban Hall on Wednesday, March 23rd. "The essential to budget travel is to plan onward. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our mind. Arranging and consuming our travel budget carefully is a priority for most families. Lowering spending and prices, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind economizing money while touring is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a big vacation or travel bill!..". The event begins at noon with displays from various motorcycle dealers and groups, who will answer your questions about riding and safety products. According to Richard Knowles, Deputy Chief of Wing Safety, Ground Safety Manager, Barksdale AFB, "April is the deadliest month for motorcycle fatalities in the Air Force." The Vice Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) BG Everett Thomas will be the guest speaker and will make his remarks at 1:30 pm. I've been told that the General is a rider, and has a vested interest in the motorcycle safety program.
According to the safety office, the objective of the awareness day is to reach as many riders as possible and provide them with valuable information to enhance their overall knowledge of safety topics, legal issues and available offers through tickets and tours. The briefings will include AFGSC training requirements that may impact riders. Local motorcycle dealers on site will provide examples of their products to include bikes and safety related items.
Weather permitting, all attendees are encouraged to ride their motorcycle to work that day.
