At just $2 a ride, a one-way trip costs less than the El and is absolutely more scenic. Travel from Michigan Avenue (the north side of the river, west of Michigan Avenue) to LaSalle and Clark Streets to Madison Street, where travelers can make connections at nearby Metra stations, Union Station, and a bevy of busses. The entire trip (Michigan to Madison) takes just 10-11 minutes.

For $2 more, the Chicago Water Taxi also stops in Chinatown at Ping Tom Park. Weekday service with early commuter runs begins this Thursday, May 28, 2010. (Saturday runs are already in progress.) From the Michigan Avenue stop, the taxi takes 22-25 minutes to get to Chinatown.

A host of passes are available for purchase, including day passes ($4-$6), 10-ride cards ($16), and monthly passes ($42).
