Gaithersburg, Maryland is a thriving suburb of Washington D.C. Before it was a suburb, it was an independent town that was a getaway from the hustle and bustle of D.C. It was also a town of many mills and factories.

The town of Gaithersburg was erected along a road that is now Maryland Route 355 with blacksmith shops and various shops along the main road, but in 1873, everything changed. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad built tracks that passed through Gaithersburg. People were traveling by train to and from Gaithersburg. When Gaithersburg was incorporated in 1878, the Town Center was moved from what is now Route 355 to the train station. The town continued to thrive.

Today, the Town Center of Gaithersburg is still centered around the train station which is still used today, but not as a regular train station although you can watch the Amtrak Trains roll by, but as a commuter train stop served by the Marc commuter trains taking people to and from Downtown D.C. Gaithersburg is still a thriving suburb of D.C. All of this was made possible by the railroad.

The train station at Gaithersburg Town Center is located on Summit Avenue which is just off of Maryland Route 355 three miles north of Interstate 370. When you visit the train station, you will see a restored Buffalo Creek and Gauley locomotive and a caboose that will be part of a museum that is currently under construction. "The essential to budget travel is to prepare in advance. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new places we have never been before, the fact of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Considering and expending our travel budget correctly is a priority for most families. Minimizing spending and expenses, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought behind saving money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal budget is extremely limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel bill!..". If you are fortunate, you may see a passing freight train during your visit.
