Its great to have a car at your disposal 24/7 and the daily rates can be pretty reasonable but, unless you have access to free parking somewhere relatively close to your hotel, having a rental car for your entire visit can add $15 a day or more to your total vacation budget. 5. Meals. If it works out with your busy vacation or business travel schedule, have a hearty lunch and light dinner instead of vice versa. There are numerous great restaurants all over the island serving excellent meals for lunch at very reasonable prices like Uncle'sat Pier 38. Youll also find that highly-rated restaurants that are open for lunch and dinner, like Orchids at the Halekulani (photo right), serve perfectly prepared meals at much lower prices during lunch.
Hawaii is a fabulous place to visit but, it's not a drive to destination so, if you have a travel budget to work with, implementing one or more of these tips will help to keep your spending in check.
