Rare opportunity: Jungfrau Railways offers 2-for-1 pricing July 2-8, 2011

Jungfrau Railways marks its 100th birthday in 2012 and is kicking off the celebration with 2-for-1 special pricing during Jungfrau National Week July 2-8, 2011. This is being offered exclusively to U.S. citizens.

During the promotional period, the multi-day pass for travel on the whole Jungfrau Railways network for two people is available for the price of one. In addition, for each adult, two children up to the age of 15 get the Jungfrau Railway pass free. This is valid a maximum of six consecutive days, and may be purchased at all Jungfrau Railway stations with the presentation of a valid United States passport.

Also during this period, two people can stay 2-7 nights at one of thirteen different hotels in the Jungfrau region--Interlaken, Grindelwald, or Wengen-- for the price of one. The Jungfrau Railway travels to the Jungfraujoch-- Top of Europe, at 3,454' the highest-altitude railway station in Europe. The train travels through the rock of the Eiger and Monch and there are two intermediate stations, Eigerwand (Eiger Wall) and Eismeer (sea of Ice). Once on top, it's a breathtaking view--a world of vantage terraces, the Aletsch Glacier and the Ice Palace. On a clear day the view extends to the Black Forest in Germany and the Vosges Mountains inFrance.
