With the World Cup beginning on Friday, there is a lot anticipation and excitement about the biggest sporting event in the world. For many people, the World Cup and football/soccer is their passion. The essential to budget travel is to approach in advance. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the reality of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our thoughts. Planning and consuming our travel budget carefully is a consideration for most families. Reducing expending and expenses, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed achievement and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind protecting money while touring is simple: Even if your personal funds is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also thinking about that while traveling, regardless of whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!. For others, like many here in the US, it's a chance to root on the USA and give this sport another chance.

However, with 32 nations vying for the title of best in the world, people from various nations and cultures are brought together in one country. This time, the host country for the World Cup is South Africa and this is a huge moment for this country and the continent of Africa to show the world its best.

South Africa and Clare Appleyard

In preparation for the World Cup, we continue part II of our interview with Clare Appleyard. Clare lives just outside of Johannesburg and has spent much of her life in South Africa.

Born in England, her family moved to South Africa when she was 6. Since then, she has received her masters in Geology in Cape Town and has been active in the diamond business. She watched the fall of Apartheid and saw the country transformed under the leadership of Nelson Mandela. While living in South Africa, she has traveled to numerous continents and country.

While her love of football and the support of her favorite club and country have grown, part II explores her passion for traveling and what it has taught her.

Living most of your life in South Africa and being from England, where did the desire to travel come from?

Firstly, to see England. There was a tug of "home" to the place. Secondly, I love geography and have always been drawn to snow and mountains, and the best place to see those is Europe. Thirdly, I have a thirst for knowledge and adventure and know that there is so much more out there to explore.

Did getting your degree in geology have any impact on your desire to travel?

Yes and no. It made me realize that I didn't actually want to live a life in a caravan in the middle of nowhere (so perhaps a bad career choice!). But it did instill an appreciation for nature and the earth's structure as a whole. One of the reasons I wanted to be come a geologist was a fascination with volcanoes. So that's still a travel dream rooted in geology.

When was your first trip and where did you go? Why?

The first SA holiday we took was to the Drakensburg - SA's biggest mountain range, when my Grandparents came out to visit. We had a fabulous time. My first international trip was back to England, followed by a weeks skiing in the Italian Dolomites. Bliss. I was hooked from that point on.

What is it about travel that intrigues you?

The opportunity to discover new places of beauty and discover new foods. There's so much to see, why would you not want to travel?

What countries have you been to?

South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Canada,United States of America, Italy, France, Andorra, Sweden, United Kingdom, Hungary, China, Hong Kong, Australia, Egypt

What are your favorite places that you have been to?

I love Cape Town. Period. I could easily live there. I love the Italian Alps in winter - sheer, unadulterated beauty. Rome is a favourite. Inhaca Island, Mozambique also a favourite. Victoria, BC was also great.

What do you love about Cape Town and Inhaca?

Cape Town is spectacularly beautiful - mountains and pristine beaches. A seriously great style of life and a cultural melting pot where you can taste cuisine from all around the world. It's got a great energy to it. Inhaca - typical island life, beautiful beaches, great reefs and snorkeling and mind-blowing seafood. A great escape.

What places would you like to go to that you haven't been and why?

Antarctica. Top of the list. Snow, ice, sheer beauty factor (it's the snow thing again). Raw, untouched beauty. Lapland - to see Aurora Borealis. The Grand Canyon for the sheer geological beauty of it. Iceland - a complete geological hotspot and a melting pot of fire and ice. Hawaii for the volcanoes.

What has travel taught you?

That there is more out there than we will ever know. It's taught me patience and to be more flexible and to appreciate fleeting moments. It's taught me that I need always to be learning and exploring. That despite our differences in language, culture, location - people are inherently all one.

What bit of advice would you give to those traveling?

You travel to experience new places and different cultures - do not expect things to be "as they are at home". It's about new experiences. People need to get out more - there is so much to see yet people are so cocooned in their daily lives, working 12 hours a day, griding out an existence. Quit the excuses and stop waiting for "someday". Travel is the greatest education you can experience and it will create the greatest memories for you and your loved ones. Life is about memories.

Because of your interest in travel, you have decided to make it a part of your life. How are you involved in travel when you aren't traveling?

I have partnered with one of the top internet-travel companies so that I can help other people experience the type of travel lifestyle that I have been fortunate to experience - we help those with a sense of adventure make a living through travel. We offer the trip of a lifetime, monthly. 5 star holidays at 2 star prices - everywhere from Hawaii to Mexico, Canada to France, Sweden to Cyprus, Egypt to Kenya, China to Indonesia.
