Budget Craft: Creating a hand-decorated mirror tile from scrapbook paper remnant

On many travels, I am fortunate enough to find and collect found objectsfor me, these are typically items of nature such as shells and driftwood, since I live near the ocean. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the actuality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our thoughts. Considering and expending our travel budget correctly is a main concern for most families. Curbing expending and charges, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to guaranteed success and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding economizing money while touring is simple: Even if your personal budget is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, no matter whether on a funds or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!..". Here is an easy project I completed today. To do this, you will need:

12x12 mirror tile

Remnant scrapbook paper, cut into one-inch strips

Ink in coordinating shade

Sponge (for dabbing ink)

Mod Podge

Craft brush

Found Objects such as shells or driftwood

Clear Glitter

Remnant bit of ribbon

I cut four twelve-inch long strips of scrapbook paper, one inch in width, and distressed the edges by dabbing them with ink using a sponge.

Next, I cut two coordinating twelve-inch strips and distressed the edges using a matching ink.

Painting the backs of these strips with Mod Podge using an inexpensive craft brush, I then affixed them to the edges of the mirror, allowing the coordinating strips to peek through about a half inch beneath the four main strips.

Next, I dabbed mod podge to the back of my shells and allowed them to attach to the four corners of the mirror.

I painted a bit of Mod Podge onto the top of each shell and sprinkled them with clear glitter.

Then I tied a small bow in a coordinating shade and glued it to the center of the top of my mirror.

For my project, I happened to have mostly Close to My Heart brand leftover scrapbook papers and products coordinating with their Creme Brulee shade, but any leftover scrapbook items will work to create your own custom mirror.
