As we commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War, the battle that became the turning point was the Battle of Gettysburg. It was here where the Confederacy made its deepest penetration into the North before they were finally pushed back to the South where they were eventually defeated. On November 19, 1963, months after the great battle, President Abraham Lincoln came to Gettysburg and gave his very famous speech, the Gettysburg Address, at the cemetery where many of the Union dead were buried.

The Battle of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Address are two amazing feats of American history, but the one thing that made the famous speech possible was the railroad. Yes, Abraham Lincoln traveled by train from Washington D.C. to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to make his landmark speech.

Today, you can visit the site and the cemetery where the famous speech was made. It is part of Gettysburg National Battlefield Park located just steps from the Visitor Center. It is only an hour and fifteen minute drive from Washington D.C. It takes more than a day to view the entire battlefield, but you can visit the monument that marks where the speech was made, and you can go to the station where Lincoln step off the train to make the speech. "The key to budget travel is to plan ahead. When it comes to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the truth of cost and budgeting is often in the back of our minds. Considering and expending our travel budget wisely is a main concern for most families. Curbing expending and costs, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured success and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while vacationing is simple: Even if your personal finances is really small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, whether on a resources or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel expenses!..".
