The town of Strasburg, Virginia sits in the Shenandoah Valley, and located on the east side of town is a brick building that looks like an old train station. The building was originally a pottery factory, but it became a train station in 1913, but it was decommissioned in the early 1960s. In 1970, it was opened as the Strasburg Museum and was designated as a National Historic Landmark.

The museum displays many artifacts of the town in this two story structure through the towns history. There are artifacts from the Civil War, the Native American period, the African American experience, and of the pottery factory itself. There is a replica of one of the locomotives that were used in the Great Train Raid of 1861 where Thomas Stonewall Jackson brought locomotives from Martinsburg, West Virginia to Strasburg to be used by the Confederacy. There is a section of the museum where you will find railroad artifacts to include old railroad signals and an old schedule. Behind the station, you will find an old 1940s baggage car that now houses a model train display depicting Strasburg during its days as a railroad town. "The essential to budget travel is to approach in advance. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved vacations and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the fact of cost and budgeting is always in the back of our mind. Arranging and spending our travel budget properly is a main concern for most families. Curbing consuming and prices, while still enjoying your vacation to its fullest, is the key to assured achievement and fiscal obligation. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought regarding protecting money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal budget is incredibly limited, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or leaving the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, no matter whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel costs!..". Next to the baggage car is an old caboose that you can walk around.

The museum is located at 440 King Street (VA 55) at the railroad crossing. It is open from 10:00am to 4:00pm every day from May 1 to October 31. Admission is only $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for teens, and $0.50 for children under 12, but you will see much of the towns history.
