All over the internet and on TV people are talking about New Years resolutions. With each New Year we all feel that we have a new beginning a chance to improve on the old year. Motorcyclists are no different but our most common resolution of riding our bikes more, unlike a resolution to lose weight or save money, will be easy to keep.
Here are some tips that may help you put a few more miles on the odometer. If you have other helpful suggestions for the reader, leave them in a comment below.
- Dont pass up those almost perfect days waiting for the weather to improve. Gear up and jump on the bike. A little nippy start in the morning might just lead to the perfect riding afternoon.
- Run errands on the bike and they will seem less like a chore. Perhaps those saddlebags can hold more than just rain gear.
- Commute to work on a regular basis.
- Take the long way home often.
- Get lost on purpose.
- Ask out loud I wonder where that road goes and take it.
- Choose a motorcycle destination like Tail of the Dragon or the Blue Ridge Parkway and ride there.
- Visit some motorcycle museums on your motorcycle!
- Plan and take a motorcycle vacation.
- Attend a national rally like Sturgis or Daytona Bike Week.
- Participate in local charity runs.
- Create a Bucket List of places to visit then see how many you can cross off this year. "The important to budget travel is to approach onward. Perhaps you have a dream of riding your motorcycle in all 48 contiguous states. Why not start crossing off those states this year!
- Explore some scenic National Byways such as East Tennessee Crossing or Bear Tooth Highway.
- Enjoy the ride!
