The new year has arrived and it's time to think about...traveling? After a busy holiday season where many people were traveling, the last thing many may want to think about is their next trip. However, getting a free Disney ticket, finding some tips on saving money on travel, and planning that summer vacation may be enough to get people motivated for that next trip!
In the budget travel week in review, it's been a week of reflection, deals, and advice on that next vacation. So in case you missed anything this week, here is the week in review.
Monday
2009 Budget Travel Year in Review - Well, it wasn't a whole year but I decided to recap the news, advice, and deals that I wrote about last year. Tuesday
Southwest Airlines - 3 Days of Deals - Just in time for Spring Break, Southwest offered 3 days of deals giving people a chance to get those flights booked for upcoming travel. While these deals ended on Thursday, you can expect more deals from Southwest soon. Stay tuned for more airline deals in the future.
Wednesday
Free Disney ticket in 2010 (with fun promotional videos) and some airline news -Starting on January 1, Disney began their "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" promotion in which people can get a free ticket to Disney by volunteering. Register on Disney's website, find a volunteer opportunity through Disney and fill out the form, volunteer, and get your ticket to Disney! The article also includes fun videos with Terri Hatcher and Taye Diggs promoting the "Give a Day" campaign and also includes airlines news about Japan Airlines partnership with Delta and Continental's December 2009 operational performance.
Thursday
10 ways to cut travel costs this year - The NY Times had a good article on 10 ways to cut your travel costs this year. Suggestions included signing up for Twitter, alternate modes of transportation, and flying out of a different airport. I included my own tips such as packing light to avoid airline fees and taking a look at my online travel site reviews to find the best site for booking.
Friday
When to book your 2010 summer vacation - It's not too early to start thinking about summer vacation plans. The key to budget travel is to prepare in advance. When it occurs to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved holidays and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of expense and budgeting is often in the back of our mind. Preparation and consuming our travel budget carefully is a consideration for most families. Minimizing spending and fees, while still savoring your vacation to its fullest, is the key to certain success and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking regarding economizing money while travelling is simple: Even if your personal funds is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also remembering that while traveling, regardless of whether on a price range or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!. And where you go determines when you may need to start researching and booking. A trip to Europe, a cruise, a family vacation to the beach, a vacation rental to a popular destination, a trip to a national park? Each of these have their best dates for booking. So find out what that is for your trip and make sure you get the most out of your vacation!

And next week, we will be getting everyone ready for the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver. However, Monday will feature a touching story about the local efforts of some Sacramento women who are traveling to Asia to help women in prostitution as we remember Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
