Travel to Kentucky Rolex Event

The Kentucky Rolex Three-Day Event is held at the Kentucky Horse Park just outside of Lexington and draws over 80,000 spectators every year.

This prestigious annual event attracts the best equestrians from all over the world, including Olympic riders, who come to compete for the $250,000 in prize money.

The Kentucky Rolex is the only 4-star equestrian event held in the US.

The Rolex is highly entertaining and offers a great way to spend a day outside walking the cross-country course or just wandering around the different demonstrations and events. The key to budget travel is to prepare onward. When it happens to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new locations we have never been before, the truth of expense and budgeting is always in the back of our heads. Arranging and consuming our travel budget carefully is a priority for most families. Reducing expending and expenses, while still experiencing your vacation to its fullest, is the key to confirmed achievement and fiscal liability. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thinking behind protecting money while traveling is simple: Even if your personal budget is highly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also keeping in mind that while traveling, whether on a finances or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a huge vacation or travel charge!. This year's event will be even more exciting with competitions added for the World Equestrian Games. Also, a rider will be attempting to become only the 2nd in history to win the "Grand Slam" prize of $350,000!

Getting There

The Kentucky Horse Park is just a 20-minute drive north of Lexington along Newtown Pike (US922) or can be reached from I-75 by taking the IronWorks Road exit and following the signs.

Schedule for the Kentucky Rolex Event

Dressage - 09:30am to 3:30pm on April 22 and 23rd

Cross Country - 09:30am to 3:30pm on April 24th

Stadium Jumping - 12:00pm to 2:00pm on April 25th

The final awards ceremony will be on Sunday, April 25th at 2:00pm.

Ticket Prices

Prices vary by different day and event. There is no standing or open seating inside the arena for the Dressage and Stadium Jumping so these days are more expensive. For more information see Rolex Tickets.

Some Advice for Budget Travelers

Arrive early to get a good view along the cross-country course. The most popular areas are usually the starting line, the finish point, and the water jumps.
Bring a hat and sunscreen, sometimes shade is hard to find along the course.
There are many food vendors, but they are quite expensive. Be sure to pack your own lunch and water.
Purchasing a program is well worth the investment and contains good information explaining the different events and riders.
Traffic can be quite bad on the rural roads heading into Lexington, you may want to take the interstate instead.
If you don't purchase a ticket for the indoor arena, you can still watch the riders warm up for Dressage in an outdoor ring (free).
