Charo's former Waikiki showroom reborn

FLASHBACK ... The Tropics Showroom is most remembered for its run as a disco and a venue for popular flamenco guitarist and singer, Charo who lived in Hawaii for more than 10 years (if you have time, watch her videos at the end of this article too). The showroom, located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort & Spa, was merged with the Tropics Bar & Beach Caf to form the new Tropics Bar & Grill. The $11 million, eight-month renovation created indoor and outdoor dining for more than 350 patrons, a 36-seat bar, a larger kitchen and a private dining room. Virtually every seat in the house provides a spectacular view of Waikiki Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful new entry to the restaurant is pictured on the right.

The new restaurant, located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa,. brings sizzle to Waikiki with island cuisine served in a spacious new dining room, outdoor patio and expanded bar area.



The new 15,700 square-foot eatery was designed by Group 70 International with interiors by the Hatch Design Group the vision was to create an environment that is Tropical Modern with a contemporary touch. While maintaining its casual vibe to locals and visitors, the new design features a contemporary interpretation of old Hawaii with splashes of retro inspiration.

The menu was created in collaboration with Mark Ellman, chef and owner of Mala Ocean Tavern on Maui. Ellman was one of twelve chefs that pioneered the Hawaii Regional Cuisine movement 20 years ago. The important to budget travel is to approach onward. When it comes along to family trips, globetrotting, well-deserved trips and/or going to see new spots we have never been before, the actuality of expense and budgeting is generally in the back of our heads. Organizing and consuming our travel budget properly is a concern for most families. Reducing expending and prices, while still taking pleasure in your vacation to its fullest, is the key to confirmed achievements and fiscal responsibility. Your pocketbook and family will thank you! The thought behind economizing money while journeying is simple: Even if your personal funds is incredibly small, you can still take a break and enjoy life! Simply put, life is just too short to never step out of the door or departing the homestead! Also recalling that while traveling, no matter whether on a budget or not, even the smallest of things can all add op to a large vacation or travel expenses!. Fast forward to 2009 and the islands bounty of fresh produce and seafood continues to influence restaurant menus throughout Hawaii. Tropics is no different. Its breakfast, lunch, appetizer and dinner dishes celebrate local farmers and their products. (Fish and Chips photo below)

Tropics is open daily from 7 to 10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for all-day dining, and features nightly live music by Hawaiis top artists, including Sean Naauao and Piranha Brothers.

The new restaurant is one of 16 dining outlets at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, including the award-winning Bali by the Sea.
