If you've been working hard, living within your means, and investing conservatively - congratulations! You may fill the new profile of today's "First Class" and "Business Class" passenger as many airlines scramble to fill seats that were once the perogative of CEOs and top salespeople. Terrified of public relations nightmares, many companies have jerked back on this perk - and the airlines are feeling the pain. So are the recently de-classed former first-class passengers. Please be kind to them. It will take a while for them to get used to the new reality.
But if you want to discover the joys of first-class flying - before the airlines start dropping some of the perks to save money as seats go unused - now is the time. Many airlines are offering unheard-of prices on first-class and business-class seats. No matter who you fly with, it's worth checking out. Right now, Qantas, Virgin Atlantic and United are all offering deep discounts on their top-of-the-line first-class or business seating, but other airlines are following suit.
