The Louisiana State Harley Owner's Group (H.O.G.) rally will be held in Alexandria (or Alec, as locals call it), beginning tomorrow and culminating in a concert by the Canadian rock band The Guess Who just for members and their guests on Saturday night. The Louisiana State H.O.G. rally is typically the first H.O.G. rally of the year, and signifies warm weather and the start of the riding season in our state. Alexandria is just over 100 miles from Shreveport, and about a 2 hour and 15 minute ride along Interstate 49 South. "We're a little bit North Louisiana hospitality with a dash of South Louisiana good times!", claims the City of Alexandria official web site.
The rally will include vendors, bike show, bike games, rides and a parade. "The important to budget travel is to plan in advance. Most events will take place at the Rapides Parish Coliseum and there will be a Dealer Welcome Party on Thursday night hosted by Renegade Harley-Davidson.
The Bossier City H.O.G. chapter will be making a presentation for the 2012 rally to be here in Shreveport/Bossier City. The presentation is going to be held Saturday April 2nd at the host hotel, The Hampton Inn, 6124 Calhoun, Alexandria, LA beginning at 7:30am. "This is where your Rally committee is going to sell our area to the other dealers/directors", said Ron Delaney, Bossier City H.O.G Director. "We would like anyone who wants to be a part of the pep rally to be in place in the lobby of the Hampton between 7 and 7:15 am. We only have about 40 T-shirts to hand out to our members, so I would like everyone to wear as much Bossier City shirts, vests and hats as possible to show our support. Only Rally committee members are allowed inside the conference room, and then when the voting starts, they will leave and only dealers and chapter directors will be inside to vote, and the winning site will be announced at the closing ceremonies."
Typically, 3,000 to 4,000 members and guests descend on the rally, and this year is sure to have record attendance with the weather forecast sunny and temperatures in the lower 80's.
While in Alexandria, be sure to stop at Brewzer's Bar, a biker friendly bar, where a B.A.C.A. (Biker's Against Child Abuse) event will be taking place.
