Roller derby makes a comeback -- in Indiana

Nothing says 1970s quite like roller derby. But like bell bottoms and platform shoes, roller derby is back, baby.

In Indianapolis, you'll find not one but two roller derby organizations: the Naptown Roller Girls and the Circle City Socialites. These high-rolling, hard-hitting ladies zip around the hardwood rinkwearing helmets, fishnets and probably a few bruises.Plus, unlike those overpaid professional athletes, these girls pay to play.

Instead of using their real names, the playersgo by aliases such as "Ivanna B. Naughty" and "Smart Bomb" -- probably a good idea when laying the hammer down on opposing ladies. And whether the girls are big blockers or svelte jammers, they aren't the types who cry over breaking a nail.

So grab a front-row "suicide seat" (if you're over 18) and check out an upcoming bout for either the Naptown Roller Girls or the Circle City Socialites.
